Upgrading an Air Conditioning Plant:
At ROCS Africa, we recently undertook the challenge of transforming an aging air conditioning plant into a cutting-edge, energy-efficient system. This project involved removing outdated scroll compressors and replacing them with state-of-the-art BOCK compressors.

Achieved Savings

Energy Savings:

The plant now operates more efficiently, leading to reduced energy consumption and lower operational costs.

Scope of work

The primary objectives of this upgrade were to:

  • Improve Energy Efficiency: Reduce energy consumption and operational costs by installing more efficient equipment.
  • Enhance System Reliability: Replace old and potentially unreliable components with modern, high-performance alternatives.
  • Ensure Environmental Compliance: Align the plant’s operations with current environmental standards and regulations.

The Solution BOCK Compressors:

BOCK compressors were chosen for their superior energy efficiency, reliability, and environmental friendliness. These compressors offer:

Advanced Technology: Incorporating the latest advancements in compressor technology, ensuring optimal performance.

Energy Efficiency: Designed to consume less power, thus significantly reducing energy costs.

Durability and Reliability: Built to last, minimizing maintenance needs and improving system uptime.

Implementation Process:

Initial Assessment: Conducted a thorough analysis of the existing system to understand its limitations and requirements.

Design and Planning: Developed a detailed plan for the removal of the old scroll compressors and the installation of the new BOCK compressors.

Execution: Removal of all old equipment and replace with new, flushing of evaporators and shell and tubes with flushing agent to remove all old gasses and oils, installing of BOCK compressors with unloading heads to optimize energy consumption.

  • Safely decommissioning and removing the old compressors.
  • Installing and integrating the new BOCK compressors.
  • Testing the new setup to ensure it met all performance and efficiency benchmarks.

Commissioning and Training: Post-installation, the system was commissioned, and staff were trained on the new equipment and controls.

Results and Benefits:

The upgrade resulted in significant improvements:

  • Energy Savings: The plant now operates more efficiently, leading to reduced energy consumption and lower operational costs.
  • Enhanced Performance: The new compressors provide reliable performance, reducing the risk of downtime.
  • Environmental Impact: The plant’s reduced energy usage translates to a smaller carbon footprint, aligning with sustainability goals.
  • Control and Monitoring: Implementing Control and Monitoring to the Air Conditioning Plant for remote access and control to give retailer full control and access to plant.

Conclusion

This project underscores ROCS Africa’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability. The successful upgrade of the air conditioning plant with BOCK compressors exemplifies our ability to tackle complex challenges and deliver superior, energy-efficient solutions.
